Communities require strategic leadership to work together to address a locality's problems and challenges in a coordinated way. Over the past few years a growing number of local authorities have used these partnership tools to seize an agenda that has been called 'place shaping'.
Haydon Wick Council views the development of strategies and visions for our area as one of its key roles in our community.
In fulfilling this duty we will take every opportunity to identify problems and develop solutions supported by partners from the Borough Council, private and importantly the voluntary and community sector.
Why are we in a unique position to undertake this?
- We are democratically elected with an independent source of finance via the Parish Council precept, which ensures local control
- We have statutory responsibilities for the health and wellbeing of our area, which drives then a strong and well-defined neighbourhood focus
- We have a recognised quality procedures and openness that promotes inclusivity, serving the needs of all sections of our community
- We seek to act as a focus for empowering our local community, by stimulating action to debate local issues, advocate local issues, improve services, provide facilities and support local community aspirations
Eighteen local people give freely of their time to improve the lives and well being of residents and the fabric and environment here in Haydon Wick. If you are interested in joining us as a Councillor or Volunteer, do let our Clerk know.
