Haydon Wick Parish Council

The Parish Council is concerned with the overall economic, cultural and physical well being of the community it serves. Where the Council directly provides services it aims to ensure that they are high quality and cost effective.

Swindon Borough authority administers most of the main services, however the Parish Council raises money (precept) through the Parish Council tax (included in your Council Tax bill) for any expenditure, which it considers is in the interests of the area (or part) or for the benefit of all or some of the inhabitants.

The Parish Council is responsible for the maintenance of play equipment and amenity open spaces within the Parish. It currently manages these together with the Leisure Garden site and is waiting to adopt further new open space areas and play areas within Abbey Meads; two at Taw Hill; and new play areas currently being constructed in Oakhurst and Priory Vale. Contractors are employed to clean the open spaces and urban footpaths including emptying the Parish litterbins, emptying the dog waste bins provided by the Parish Council, and carrying out general maintenance work around the Parish and the Council premises, such as cleaning bus shelters, removal of graffiti, hedge and shrub trimming etc.

The Parish Council has the right to be notified of any planning application affecting the area and to make comments, which the planning authority must take into account.
